Target audience

Our film opening will be having a PG certificate as we agree it will attract a wide range of audiences. We also gained inspiration for our target audience group through the film 'Johnny English' which also has a PG certificate.
In Johnny English, the certificate is PG due to adult but also younger audience comedy. However, present in Johnny English is comic nudity, crude humor and bad language meaning it is questioned to why it's a PG certificate. In our film opening scene/film, we have decided to include none of this concluding more reasons why it will be a PG certificate.
Representation
Within any filming the plot should include morals or things/people/cultures etc you want to represent.

Our film opening sequence is a PG 'spy comedy' genre meaning we are representing the lifestyle of spy's and what the atmosphere of a spy/M15 mission portrays naturally.
However, with our twist we are representing how a experienced female spy would act on a mission with contrast of a male amateur spy. We are representing this through mise en scene; the experienced spy will be wearing all black in camouflage to the dark, whereas the male character wil
l be wearing bright and casual clothes.
We will also be representing what a large and wide-spaced museum looks like my using Chelmsford Museum. This will also be some advertisement for Chelmsford Museum as if people view our film and like the look of Chelmsford Museum they will then go and visit.

Music research
With regards to any film opening; music can be included to create atmosphere and to deliver the
genre more evidently to the target audience. Additionally, non-digetic and digetic sound can be
used to either create sound which is visible on screen or not visible on screen.
Our film is a fairly calm and not very action is portrayed until the end; for this, we have decided that
a theme tune at the beginning would ruin the scene we are trying to create for the audience. This
caused us to believe a theme tune at the end of the film opening, when the alarms occur, would be
best to create a more action packed ending to kick start the film.

When using sound in our film opening, we have decided it will be best to use synchronous sounds so they would make the genre more evident but portray the correct atmosphere for what is going on in the scene to not confuse the audience.
Ambient sound will also be used to create the atmosphere further; it is the sound which will be heard in the background behind the acting as the atmospheric background buzz and noise. By using ambient sound, it can instruct the audience and make them visualise what the setting is more (soundscape).
We have also decided to use foley; to emphasise the sound shown in the film, e.g when both characters are seen walking up the steps to the house and when both characters are viewed in the bushes at the beginning.
With regards to a voice over, we have decided not to include one but instead use a script. However, if when we look over our footage and the voice is not clear we will re-film the narrative as a voice over (digetic sound) so the audience we hear clearly what the characters are talking about.

Prop and costume list
We have chosen the following items as we think this best represents our film genre of a spy comedy. We are trying to get as many black items to make us look more spy like with a few bright colours for Jordan, to show he is not as committed as the other spy's and does not know what he is doing.

Evaluation of group film pitch
After proposing our film opening idea to the rest of the class, we received feedback.
Some feedback from the class:

Teacher feedback:

Overall looking at all the feedback we can get a brief outline of points we can improve on and points we have gained success from the audience with. It is beneficial that our class is part of the audience as we can get a real vibe of how our audience would react to the actual film.
Looking at the feedback, there are many good and bad points in which our audience pointed out with regards to our film opening idea.
What is the genre? Is this clear?
From our pitch, we received many good points with regards to the genre. For example, many people believed the 'spy comedy' genre was evident which is good. However, through teacher feedback, they believed the genre 'spy comedy' could be a struggle with regards to it turning out to be a fail comedy film.
This leaves us with a improving point, to make the genre comedy completely evident through our film opening.
Who is the target audience and why would they pay to see it?
We received mixed reviews on the target audience we picked; many saying how it is more of a teenage audience film. This means we need to rethink our target audience or make it extremely evident within the film opening why it has a ranged audience; through adult and infant comedy points.
Does it introduce character and setting? What are they like?
Everyone believed our film had a clear character and setting basis. However, an improvement point comes from the teacher feedback where they stated we should change the female characters name to make it more funny rather than 'M'.
Does the mood and style fit?
Our feedback with regards to the mood and style is excellent with the audience believing the mood fits for the genre and target audience. On the other hand, we need to look at how difficult a parody would be to create.
Narrative interesting? Engima?
Our feedback with regards to the narrative and enigma; the feedback is mixed. Some of our audience have stated about making our enigma more evident and showing where it would lye within our film opening.
What films is it similar too?
All the films our film opening is similar too are evident; Johnny English, Spy and 21 Jump Street.
Comments/Advice
The teacher believes we should use a more low key production company to partner up with.

Titles
In today's lesson we were asked to choose a film with interesting and exciting film titles in which we could analyse the timings. This will help us determine which order the titles run in and which person in the making of the film is to be considered as having the most important role. These below are the titles which contain the main actors and directors etc.
5 seconds
It then shows the title of the film.
3 seconds
The first title starts with the production company and is on for a long time so that people can properly take in what production film they are watching.
13 seconds
The second is the other production that it is partnered with and as marvel is used for super hero films this one is on for a little bit longer.
4 seconds
This is the third and final production company and is not as big and as important as the others so this is why it is on for a shorter amount of time.

After that it then goes on to show the following actors and actresses involved in the movie.
